The concept for the clubhouse is derived from the dynamics of the horse gallop and the architecture aims to appear like a captured still frame of that graceful movement. The building is composed out of horizontal slabs that either accentuate the roof or form vast balconies orientated towards the riding arena.
Situated in the northwest of Shanghai, Jiading municipality is planned as an energetic, sustainable and educational new area of the city. Planning parameters encourage ecological, recreational and educational elements which is why our client chose this site for an interesting, equestrian focused development.
Client's main goal was to create a small ecological oasis with sustainable villas on the lake and multi-purpose clubhouse with many sport facilities around it. A big theme of the development are equestrian facilities with small riding school, stables and indoor and outdoor paddocks.
The villas area is organized radially around the existing man-made lake with special attention to equal distribution of the most beautiful views while the lake shore itself is turned into a pedestrian promenade dotted with ecology themed nodes that also have an educational purpose.
The equestrian club area is dominated by the main clubhouse, a building that provides spaces for big gatherings and conferences, accommodation, retail and functions designated for specific requirements of the club. Main entrance on the north side is accentuated with a reflecting pool while the south side of the building faces the open riding arena suitable for recreational polo matches and other manifestations.
