Situated in immediate vicinity of Hangzhou Xiaoshan airport, this mixed use development’s starting point was identifying the main user groups and organizing the program to best combine and suit all of their needs. Beside the typical shopping mall and hotel visitors and site employees, the more specific user groups comprised of delayed passengers, domestic and international airline companies’ employees as well as aircraft staff temporary residence.

Another challenge was the elongated shape of the site that imposed the predominant east west building alignment and main circulation. The masterplan resulted in hotel cluster situated in the eastern corner of the site, nearest to the airport, commercial podium that stretched along the whole site and five office buildings placed on top of the podium on the southern side. The south-west corner is occupied by the aircrew staff dormitory.
